I seriously am kind of lost by the makers.

I say this every time, but the fact that Hayashi is making Streets to fit Toyobarus mean I can't see any reason to get anything else.

Round ones seem to work the best. :)

Steelies. Without plastic trims, just bare rusty metal. You know you want to.

I feel like we differ in the way we approach style. . .

I was really hoping for pentagons :(

What's in that picture is cool

If I say I don't want. . . will you hurt me?

In my experience, hexagon and octagon are a better choice.

Bee*R B5, but I think they are out of production so they are going to be more expensive.

Makes sense, more corners.

I feel like TE37 is the obligatory answer.

I totally would buuuuuuttt. . . 3.4K. Jeeeeeezzzz. My budget is about 1500. EDIT: Looks like they aren't nearly that much, only 1900.

The other unoriginal, obvious suggestion is the ol' RPF1.
![]() 08/31/2013 at 19:39 |
|
They may be unoriginal but they sure do look good.
![]() 08/31/2013 at 19:41 |
|
I've never valued them for their looks so much as their performance.
![]() 08/31/2013 at 19:47 |

Gotta agree with you here. Not sure a Toyobaru could pull these off...
They look awesome on the right car though.

IMO that aesthetic looks best on grand daddy:
Oh, by the way
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
![]() 08/31/2013 at 19:49 |

The older the better. They would be good for winter wheels.
![]() 08/31/2013 at 19:52 |

Great wheels for performance, I just wish they looked nicer too me. . . I know shallow, but they have to look good!
![]() 08/31/2013 at 19:55 |

I came to the conclusion today that the new Fiat Abarth wheels will look good on pretty much everything, particularly the white ones. I'm not sure they would fit though
![]() 08/31/2013 at 19:59 |
|
Ok, this has been bugging me. Why the hell do you point the wheels into the wheel well?
![]() 08/31/2013 at 20:03 |
|
Under the circumstances, I'll restrict myself to nonviolent resistance.
Seriously, though, I'd like to see a 'shop of it, but I think it could look quite good on a nice shiny new car. On an old car, even a classic, it just makes it look cheap, but on a Toybaru it would look quite good. And they're nice and light, so because racecar.

I never liked the RPF1s that much. My bud sometimes puts a set on his 240, and they're my least favorite of his aesthetically, including steelies from an s12. They are light and durable for their weight, though.
![]() 08/31/2013 at 20:05 |

I agree with everything you just said
![]() 08/31/2013 at 20:06 |
|
Exactly. Not much of a looker but it's deliciously lightweight.

Lifehack: pointing the front wheels in a direction helps with steering and parking.
![]() 08/31/2013 at 20:13 |

They are probably smaller than OEM, are the 16 inches?
![]() 08/31/2013 at 20:14 |

Ok, I get that, uphill, downhill, you rotate he wheels accordingly.
I should have clarified, every photo shoot, and every car photographer I talk to says "Point the Wheels IN!".
Why? Yes it shows off the wheel, but you can do that in in other ways. It seems to me like a weird unwritten rule that needs to be broken.
![]() 08/31/2013 at 20:15 |

I disagree. In black they look fantastic.

I like O.Z formula HLT's. not too ricey. photo found here

Step 1: go to tirerack
Step 2: pick fr-s
Step 3: sort by weight
Step 4: select based on aesthetics

it's just a way of showing off the rim and gives that playful 'freshly parked' image. I am of course talking out of my anus. I don't mind it, there's worse things amateur car photographers do.
![]() 08/31/2013 at 20:39 |

Thanks. That I can see. But what about photos like this:
The car is not going to park into the door, so the wheels are pointed out. But Photog rules say this is bad....
![]() 08/31/2013 at 20:44 |
|
I guess some think showing dirty tread is bad? the great thing about photography rules is there's no one to enforce them.

For you, I have this video. it is of a Scion FR-S, with silver steelies. It also sounds really nice too!
![]() 08/31/2013 at 21:20 |

I have already done that, but there isn't much of a selection. . . well there is, but there is so much more out there!

'Cuz it looks tight, brah.
No, but really, it looks cool, shows off the wheel, etc.

Fucking... UGH! The wheel does nothing but save weight!!!
I want to see the tire and the tread pattern... Wow, you have a sexy wheel and a cheap ass tire, good for you.... Cheap fucker.
Show the car off, and the tire!
BTW - Dunlop, I'm a cheap fucker, I'll be getting better soon...
![]() 08/31/2013 at 23:42 |

I really like the RAYS Gram Lights. . . I just don't know how heavy they are.
![]() 09/01/2013 at 00:19 |
|
According to the FT86 club wheel thread, around 20 to 22 lbs, depending on size. While both are made by RAYS, Gram Lights are much cheaper than the VOLK line because VOLKs are forged, and Gram Lights are cast. An 18" x 7.5" 57Xtreme is $407.55 from Evasive Motorsports, and a TE37 in the same size is $894.90
![]() 09/01/2013 at 00:32 |

I think casts should be more than enough. I am on the road most of the time, and go autocrossing 2 times a month or so. Thoughts? Might as well ask the forms.
Also. . . 400 bucks for wheels? WOW! Atleast I know I will be getting quality. I have great things about the Volk line, I am sure their Gram Lights are great too.

Oh yeah, that looks OK. Now imagine they'd had a couple of years' uneven road-salt exposure.
I reckon the contrast could work really well.
